THE NEXT ELECTION
Address by Mr. Savage APPEAL FOR SUPPORT Telegraph—Pres* Aa»ociattOO .1 TE AWAMUTU. June 20. Tito Leader ut the Opposition, Mr. M. J. Savage, addressed a large meeting last night. In the course of bis speech he warned electors against tho Government's auxiliary forces which were sure to make another attempt to divide the people at the polls. Mr. Savage stated that the Official Labour Party was the only possible alternative to a Coalition Government, and he appealed to the people to make up their minds either for or against Labour. Wherever Labour candidates were nominated tho issue should bo clear. With 21 members in tho House, the Labour Party had a glorious chance of being the next Government, and if given a working majority ho had no fear at the consequences. No doubt a lot of inone.y would be spent iu attempts to stampede electors and to provide alleged alternatives, but the experience of Hie past had been that all these alternatives bad found it impossible to combine against Labour on vital issues. A rote of thanks was carried.
