One hundred and nine players with aggregates of 153 and better over tftb two rounds qualified for match play In the British open golf championship, which is being competed for at Edinburgh. This number includes all the Americans. Cotton and Burton, with scores of 111, led the field. The golfers, iu the morning it ere handicapped by mist which reduced the visibility to 50 yards. Cotton suffered as a result of this, and drove into the tough in the first seven holes. Nevertheless, he went out iu 33. Picard was unlortunate the previous night in finishing in a mist, and it wae also misty when he went out again thia morning. This resulted in his being almost eliminated. Lawson-Little sated himself with a two at the 13th, and although he played well when the weather had improved. he drove erratically. Mitchell, playing in the worst conditions, had a marvellous 71, Ist 2nd
