Sunday-Night Concerts
(To th® Editor.) Sir, —With regard to the holding of Sunday entertainments, I would like to inform Mr 11. Henry that I did not say anything about a silver coin being sufficient for Sunday-nigbt concerts. I said that there was a law set down that no concert or entertainment shall be held on Sunday except for a silver coin, not a fixed charge, not meaning that it is sufficient as Mr Henry stated, and I think it is he who has the other think coming. As for Mr James Wilson, who nlso wrote in answer to my letter, I would like to inform him that there is no need to consult with the convenor of these concerts to give me the very best entertainments for a tray-bit. I was not asking for his help, but if more •-onsideration were given to the poor of Hastings who cannot afford the amount asked for some good might be done.— Yours, etc., ROBERT D. PRYCE. June 21, 1935.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —In answer to It. D. Pryce’s letter, I would like to inform him that it is about time some person brought these concerts to the notice of the Press. These Sunday concerts are stopping young people from attending church of an evening. Although their parents send them to church they lag around some corner or roam up and down the street till the concerts start. Also, I have noticed youths who cannot nffotd sixpence or a shilling hanging around the theatre door making hoodlums of themselves through the promoters charging too much for entrance, and ns for the fixed charge he mentioned for Sunday entertainments. I think he is quite in order.—Yours, etc., A J W. dune 24, 1935.
