CARE OF OLD PEOPLE
Park Island Committee
In bis monthly report to the Park Island joint committee, which met at the Napier Hospital yesterday morning, the chairman, Mr A. E. Bedford, reviewed the work of the committee during the past month, and furnished particulars showing that, generally speaking, the health of the inmates at the homes controlled by the committee was good. The statement made by Mr Bedford showed that 34 inmates are receiving care at the homes, and 28 under the control of the Hawke’s Bay Hospital Board. Members present at the meeting yesterday were Messrs. A. E. Bedford, chairman L. Stein, R. Harding, J. Millar, W. Eddy, \V. 11. Rathbone, Dr. J. Allan Berry. An apology lor absence was received from Air C. Lassen. Instead of consisting of four representative from the H.B. Hospital Board and one each from the Waipawa and Dannevirke Hospital boards, in future the finance committee will comprise only three members. These will be Dr. J. Allan Berry and Mr A. E. Bedford, representing the Hawke’s Bay Hospital Board, and Air W. H. Rathbone, who will represent the two
southern boards, Waipawa ami Dannevirke. This decision was reached yesterday morning after a protracted discussion, provoked by the declaration by Mr Stein, from the Dannevirke board, that he opposed the motion, of which Air Rathbone had previously given notice, as its affirmation might not be ac- I ceptable to either the Dannevirke or Waipawa boards.
