AVONDALE LOSS

Past Year’s Operations By Telegraph—Press Association, AUCKLAND, June 19. A loss of £1457, without providing for depreciation, was shown by the Avondale Jockey Club for the year ended .May ,31 last The report to be presented at the annual meeting states that the alteration of the spring dates and the clashing with the Canterbury Jockey Club’s spring meeting proved disastrous, and the club made a serious loss. In the autumn the results were a little better, but unfavourable weather was all against them, and but for a rebate in Government taxation a further loss would have been chronicled. As it was the club just about managed to make ends meet over the fixture.
