Thomas Francis Duffy, 50, labourer, was sentenced at Wellington to-day by ■Mr. Stilwell, S.M., to six weeks’ imprisonment on a charge of obtaining an overcoat and £3 in money by means of a valueless cheque. On two further charges of obtaining goods and money by valuele* cheques, he was ordered to come up for sentence within eighteen months if called upon.—Press Assn.,
