Fat Sheep Make Late Rales

SINGLE LAMB TO 30/-

Fat sheep values showed no appreciable change at yesterday’s sale at Stortford Lodge, late rates generally being maintained. The quality of the entry was quite good, there being several good lines of fattened station sheep on offer which met with keen competition. Ewes comprised the bulk of the entry, lambs beiug in moderate supply, and wethers few.

Export buyers took the majority ol the ewes up to 14/-, with local butchers displaying more interest in the sale.

Selected entries and prices paid, from which an idea of the state of the market may bo obtained, are as follow :— A line of 95 whiteface lambs, medium framed, somewhat mixed in finish, with a few blacklaces included, realised 18/6. A single wether told at 20/-. A pen of 36 ewes, fairly framed, medium finished, made 14/1. A draft of 54 ewes, on account of Air C. W. Edgecombe, llatuma, fairly trained, and ill good order, sold to a grazier at 1-1/7.

A pen of 154 lambs, blackfaces, medium framed and finished, met the market at 17/10.

Forty-nine ewes, on account of an Elsthorpe vendor, well grown sheep generally, light to medium finished, made 14/4. Sixty-seven ewes, ottered on account of Mr A. McGaffin, Elsthorpe, fairly grown, mixed in finish, sold at 14/2. Ten wethers, well grown and finished, made 21/10.

Two pens of ewes, well grown and prime sold out at 16/7. A pen of 31 blackface lambs, medium framed and finished, realised 18/-. Seventy ewes, on account of Air K. Gollan, Tamumu, guaranteed empty, big sheep, prime, made 17/5, 17/7, ami 17/- in three pens. A pair xif big framed heavy ewes, young sheep, in prime order, made 19/3. Five more ewes, not so heavy, realised 17/6.

Five wethers, well grown sheep, prime, made 22/3. A single blackface five-tooth realised 21/9.

A pen of 26 whiteface lambs on account of Air J. Farquhar, medium framed, well finished, sold at 18/10Seven blackface lambs from the same vendor made 19/4.

A single prime heavy Romney crossbred lamb sold at 30/-, a further two selling at 24/- and two at 23/6, these lambs all being on account of Air J Farquhar.

Thirty-four ewes, on account of the Estate W. A. McFarlane, well grown, and carrying medium finish, passed at 15/10.

A pen of 21 ewes, ex Otane, well grown sheep, weighty and well finished, realised 16/9.

A pen of 14 maiden ewes, similarly framed and prime, made 18/1.
