“The Baptism of the Holy Spirit'’ will be the subject of an address to bo given by Mr baiter, of Wuipukurau, in the Nelson Street Hall, Hastings, on Thursday at 7.30 p.m. Jn connection With this address special reference will be made to the present day tongues movement. All interested in this great subject should make a special effort to bo present.
Tho Hastings Players will present three one-act plays under th© direction ot Mr A. Stanley Warwick in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Hastings, on firiday next at 8 o'clock. Two comedies and a short laic© will bo included on tho "bill,” and a most enjoyable evening is promised. The Players, as usual, will give ropio ot tho younger members an opportunity of making an appearance, and have the leavening of many seasoned players. The ladies include Misses Wendy Patston, N'oiu Alix Roehlort, Margaret Nutter, Grace Fuller and Helen Waugh, and tho men Messrs Stick Clifton, Ralph Caro, Bryan Appleby Neil Appleby, Erie Heaton and A. Stanley Warwick. Vocal excerpts by Miss M. Marthall by request.
Lovers of Hie best of music are reminded of the organ recital to-uimrow (Thursday) evening in the Hastings Methodist Church. This will he given by Mr B. Spinney, L.R.A.M., ami vocal items will be sung by Mrs Spinney. The recital i© to commence at 8 o’clock. A collection will bo received for the trust funds ol the church.
By advertisement appealing in another column, it will lie b epn that the committee and members of the Havelock North Presbyterian Church are tendering a social to their minister, the Rev. R. B. Waugh, and Mrs Waugh, in the Town Board Hall, Havelock North, on Friday evening next. It is to celebrate Mr Waugh's silver jubilee as minister of the parish.
