FAT SHEEP VALUES

Mixed Entry at Waipukurau

PRICES REMAIN STEADY

Fat sheep were in good supply at yesterday’s sale at Waipukurau, although the entry was more mixed, with fewer prime sheep included. Demand was, however, steady at late rates, with good competition throughout, graziers competing on a number of lighter lines. Lambs were principally in supply, and lighter weights predominated. Wethers were few, there being only one big line on offer, which met a quiet reception. Ewes were mixed, and included a number of light pens, good ewes making up to 17/-. A selection of the entries and prices paid, from which an idea of the state of the market may be obtained, is as follows:—

A pen of 38 white-face lambs, fairly grown and finished, realised 20/1. A line of 109 black-face lambs, well grown and finished, sold at 20/4. A single wether, medium framed and finished, made 18/-, a further wether making the same figure. A single two-tooth black-tace ewe, fairly grown and well finished, made 17/-. Fifty-two medium framed light white-face lambs sold at 16/6. A pen of 77 white-face lambs, better finished than the previous pen, made 16/11. Fifty-five ewes, well grown and finished, sold at 15/6. A single well grown and finished wether passed at 29/-. Sixty-three black-face lambs, medium framed and well finished, made 19/6. Four wethers realised 20/-. A single wether sold at 20/6. a. weighty pet lamb made 20/6. A pen of 105 black-face lambs, small and medium framed, lightly finished, passed at 15/3. A pen of 24 maiden ewes, fairly grown and light to medium finished, realised 14/9. A pair of weighty white-lace lambs sold out at 22/9. Fifteen black-face lambs, medium framed and well finished, realised 20/1. A line of 117 wethers, medium to well grown sheep, light to medium finished, passed at 20/-. A draft of 124 black-face lambs, small to medium framed, mixed in finish, realised 16/1.

A pen of 16Q ewes, well framed sheep, freezing weights, sold at 13/10.
