THE SILVER JUBILEE
Celebrated at Otamauri The Otamaun School was the scene of a very pleasant gathering last Friday afternoon to commemorate the Jubilee of their Majesties, King George and Queen Mary The afternoon opened with the singing of “Land of Hope and Glory/’ Mr. Kowell-listicke, chairman of the school committee, then gave an address chiefly for the children, stressing interesting facts about the reigning King-and Queen and their predecessors. In conclusion he paid tribute to Miss Kerr, the teacher, for organising this pleasing little function. Mrs. Usticke was then called upon the present the little Jubilee Badges Miss Kerr so kindly bought for her pupils. I After this everyone adjourned to the I school grounds to witness the planting of an oak tree which Mr. NowellUsticke had generously donated to the school to commemorate the Jubilee of the King and Queen. Miss Kerr thanked Mr. NowcllIJstieke lor his gift and mentioned how appropriate it was for the occasion. Jhe afternoon With afternoon tea, which was served in the schoolroom.
