Meeanee School Function
A very pleasant funetion took place in the I’ublic School, Meeanee, on Friday afternoon when, in the presence of a large number of parents and 50 pupils a presentation was made to Miss Eileen M. E. Hamlin who has resigned her position as assistant mistress, as she is taking up an appointment at Westshore. Mr W. J. Barham, headmaster, spoke of her good qualities and abilities as a teacher and expressed keen regret at her departure.
Air N. P. Eriksen also spoke a few words. Mr C. M. Oliver, chairman of the school committee, on behalf of the residents of Meeanee ami Papakura, presented her vith a beautiful pink bedroom clock, with a powder bowl to match, and also spoke of Miss Hamlin’s good qualities. She had held this position for nearly three years and had proved herself a most efficient teacher, which the parents highly appreciated. Miss Hamlin feelingly replied, and thanked all for their beautiful present ■nd good wishes expressed. A very daintv afternoon tea was then served to both parents and children by the ladies ol Popakiira and Meeanee.
