Maori Boy Burned to Death

A Maori boy named Nelson Topu, aged nine, was burned to death in a whare about a mile and a half from Matai camp, near • Mngapehi. Two young boys were sleeping in the whare, which is about 20 feet from that in which the elders slept. The whare wa? noticed to be on fire between ten and twelve on Thursday night. The younger boy, aged five, managed to escape, but Nelson Tepu was trapped and died in the fire. Il’>. father, Jack Tepu, resides at Wainiiha.
