OFFICIAL COUNTS 50 Per Cent, of Electors Vote NO CHANGES IN POSITION The official count in connection with the municipal elections at Hastings was completed last night by the returning officer, *lr. Noel Harding, and his staff. The counting of the declaration votes resulted in increases to candidates ’in each of the issues, but no changes in positions have been made to those announced on the night of the poll. Approximately 4450 votes were recorded out of a total roll of 8420. A total of 45,808 recorded votes had to be counted, of which over 32,000 were concerned in the issue for the Borough Council. NAPIER COUNT Council and Mayoralty The official recount for all the election issues at Napier will be concluded to-day, but so far the Mayoral and Borough Council sections only are complete. So far as the candidates in these two sections are concerned, the count has not brought any actual differences of position from what they were on Thursday morning. Spence, who on Monday morning will leave Napier on a six months’ holiday to Soctland, was officially sworn in by the assistant-Town Clerk, Mr. F. R. Watters, and Mr. C. O. Morse, the reelected Mayor. MAYORALTY. The official count has given Mr. C. O. Morse a majority of. 121 over the runner-up, Mr. A. H. Fergusson, who at the first count on Wednesday night was only 117 votes behind him.
