“Verdict of the Sword Must Prevail” LONDON, May 10. Sir Aho Dailey, in a strongly worded and lengthy letter to the “Daily Telegraph”, says. “Germany lost her colonies by the just verdict of the sword, a power which she imposed on prostrate Russia and Rumania in the ruthless treaties of Brest-Litovsk and Bucharest. “She has no right to protest against the terms of th© so-called dictated peace.” At a conference of Anglo-Dominion Ministers to-day only passing reference was made to Germany’s demand for the return of her colonies. New Zealand did not raise the question of Samoa
Sir Abe Bailey, the South African mine-owner, was a major with the South African forces during the Great War and served in German South-West Africa.
