JADE TO THE FORE
Popularity Revived Jade ornaments liavo been worn bv beauties throughout the ages. Though its popularity may wane from time to time, invariably it springs to the fore again, carved with new designs symbolical of the art oi the period. Just now in Paris jade is one of the most popular stones. Set in curious stvlcs, it is to be found in every jeweller's window. Looking at these modern presentations of the lovely greenstone, it is not easy to remember that jade was worn by Chinese beauties many centuries ago. Many examples ot jade are m other shades than the green with which most people are familiar, but it is the green jade which tashiotiable women are generally wearing. Other jewellery novelties consist oi bracelets designed in hand-painted china. So broad are these ornaments they are like circles cut from oldfashioned china flower vases. China shops arc making attractive window displays of these novelties One large Parisian shop lias built a battleship entirely oi plates, with funnels built with piles of bracelets, and a prow and guns from decanters of varying sizes.
