High Prices Realised borne amazing averages were made at the yearling sales in England in 1934. Fairway (who headed the list in 1933, though untried as a sire) again did best in 1954. Eight of his yearlings made 28,49(Jgn5., or an average of 356]gns. Blandford came next with an average of 3283gns. for nine yearlings. Two by Friar Marcus sold for an average of 2800gns., ami II by Solaria averaged 2350gim. Eleven by his sire (Gainsborough) averaged 2142gns. Five by Tetratenia averaged 2322gn5. One by the Derby winner, Blenheim, sold for gOOOgiis. One by the Derby winner, Felstead (by Spion Kop, grandson of Carbine) sold for BOOOgns. In 1934 .107 yearlings made lOOOgns., or over, while'in 1923 the number to do that was 55. Twelve yearlings by the Derby winner, Manna (by T’halaris cut of Waffles) averaged 1255gn5., and eight by the Derby winner, Sansovino (by Swynford) 1698gns. The highest priced yearlings in 1931 were: — Gns.
