Otane Committee Meets From Our Own Correspondent. OTANE, Feb. 26. The monthly meeting of the Otane School Committee was held on Monday night, Mr A. E. Black presiding. The headmaster, Mr Trevena, reported that the attendance for the past throe weeks had averaged 135.7, 85 per cent, of tho roll. The Dental Clinic, under Nurse Mackinnon, had rc-opened on February 12. The school excursion to Napier took place on February 15. The weather was unfavourable, but the children seemed to enjoy themselves. Twenty pupils qualified for swimming certificates, including Hugh Pago and Douglas Irwin, who each swam half a mile. The secretary was instructed to have a leak in cne of the water pipes attended to, to clean out and shift incinerator, to have dead trees in the hedge removed and fresh ones planted in their place. The procuring of a supply of fuel for winter use was left to the chairman and secretary. It was decided to supply the children having lunch at school with cocoa during the winter months. Several accounts were passed for payment. TAKAPAU COMMITTEE From Our Own Correspondent. The monthly meeting of the Takapan School Committee was held on Monday evening. Present, Messrs N. M. Paulsen, chairman, J. A. Grant, hon. secretary, D. Vesty, F. H. Hillier and J. Thomsen. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs A. Foley and D. McMillan. It was decided to write and thank the Railway Department and the. Napier Thirty Thousand Club in connection with the recent school excursion to Napier. The headmaster reported that tho roll number was 159 and the average attendance was 152. Messrs D. McMillan and N. M. Paulsen, were appointed a visiting committee.
