Some Beautiful Frocks
WAIPUKURAU FUNCTION From Our Own Correspondent. WAIPUKURAU, Feb. 17. On Friday evening the officers of the Brigades in camp at Waipukurau entertained the residents at a most enjoyable dance in the Masonic Hall. A regimental dance is always a colourful affair when the officers wear their immaculate little scarlet mesa jackets setting off the dainty frocks worn, and Friday night's function was a very cheery affair. Quite a number of the guests arrived after being in Hastings to see “The Wind and The Rain,’’ the popular play so much talked about. Popular dance music was provided by the Ritz dance band, who had to respond to many encores. Under the supervision of Miss 8. Lee, a delicious supper was served. The long supper tables looked attractive, decorated with various coloured pom-pom dahlias. The guests were received by Colonel W. FL Cunningham, D. 5.0., V.D. Other officers present were:—Lieut.Col. R. F. Gambrill, V.D.. Lieut.-Col. W. S. McCrorie, V.D., Lieut.-Col. J. S. Saunders, D. 5.0., V.D., Major A. E. Conway, M.C., N.Z.S.C., Major S. Varmint, Major Butcher Major MantillHarding, Captain L. W. Andrew, V.C., Captain G. M. McCaskill, N.Z.S.C., Captain F. L. Hunt, Captain A. Bongurd, Captain Alien, Captain Whiting, Captain A. B. Ross, Captain C. M. Williamson, Lieut. G. H. Heal. Among the dancers noticed were: — Mrs A. B. Ross, Wellington, wearing a dainty frock of hunters green crepe with frilled eleeves of gold lace. Mrs G. M. McCaskill, Palmerston North wag wearing scarlet shoes and wrist handkerchief with a smart model frock of royal blue silk inarocatn, the trained skirt pin-tucked on hip and finished with tiny buttons, crossed bands finished the backless corsage. Mrs C. M. Williamson wore a dance frock of pule pink angel-skin, the toning coatee having short puffed sleeves. Mrs G. 11. Heal, black and pink flowered taffeta, the full ekirt having a flounce of black net. Mrs J. D. Todd, becoming frock of coral pink and brown floral georgette with deep shoulder frills and sash of pale pink satin. Mrs C. J. Williams wore pale blue chiffon inset godets of blue lace finished with pink rosebuds gave fullness to the skirt, pink shoulder spray was also worn. Mi's P, F. Wall wore a dunce frock in soft black georgetii slightly trained. Mi's J. W. Harding, attractive model frock in pale pink corded silk with tiny buttons on the back of ekirt, and the draped shoulder cape giving a smart finished to back of corsage. Mrs 11. Peacock, gracefift frock in black lace relieved with white. Mrs Boil. Ricketts, dainty frock m cherry corded crepe, the tucked waistline finished with a tie sash. Mrs V. Bradley was wearing a coatee of maroon crushed velvet over a black lace frock. Mrs H. Parsons, black lace frock, with diamante relief at waist. Miss I>. Beachen wore black leaf patterned lace with wide knee frills trimming the slim fitting skirt. Miss J. Harker, becoming frock of cream crepe de chene with orange and brown spots, the slightly trained skirt trimmed with frills. Miss J. Bell, Masterton, black and white flowered crinked organdi. Miss J. Alloway, frock of cream crepe do chene, flowered in blue and scarlet, blue velvet belt. Mies J. Loyd, was wearing saxe-blue crinkled crepe, prettily flared. Miss C. Mackay pale blue organdi, the short puffed sleeves and full skirt appliqued in pale mauve. Miss S. Monckton wore a moulded frock of black French velvet, with inset godets on skirt of narrow cream lace. Miss J. Monckton, becoming frock of black lace, worn with pink shoes. Miss J. Parsons wore a pretty frock of carnation suede crepe, the flared shoulder frills were appliqued in silver. Miss Betty Macrae, Palmerston North, was wearing a handsome model frock of silver lace, the high neck front line, had a pleating of silver lame, the backless corsage win- bound with silver lame, and narrow frills finished the hem of the trained skirt. Miss if. Wall was wearing a becoming frock of blue and white flowered chiffon.
