MARAMA’S CRUISE
Marlborough Sounds Visit The first cruise to be made to New Zealand beauty spots fioni Wellington this summer will be by the Marania on January 28th. Leaving the whan at 8 pm., the vessel will anchor in the stream until about 11 o’clock lor a dance and to enable the passengers to get to know one another. Next morning should find her before breakfast in Port Hardy, the quiet haibour at the northern end ol D'Urville Island where there is good fishing, a nice beach for bathing, and a number of arms to explore by launch or boat Leaving early on Wednesday morning, the will proceed to Ship Cove, Captain Cook’s famous rendezvous in Queen Charlotte Sound, where if conditions are favourable, a landing will be made to inspect the monument and to hjive a nearer view of the wealth of treeferns which are one of the beautiee ol the Cove. The afternoon will be spent near the head of Queen Charlotte Sound, and next morning the scene will be shifted to Pelorous Sound, where the forenoon will be spent in the beautiful Kenepuru Arm. A shift will be made in the afternoon to Tennyson Inlet, with its great wealth of native bush, and here the final gala evening of the cruise will be spent. Boating, bathing, fishing, dancing, talkie pictures, deck sports, and other shipboard amusements will be features of the cruise, with a fancy dress ball to wind up with. The Marania will arrive back at Wellington on Friday morning, February 1.
