An experiment that will be watched with interest by boardinghouse keepers at all English seaside resorts is to be , made during the winter at Blackpool, when it is proposed to hold special cooking classes fo& landladies at the new Technical School. At the special “landladies’ classes’’ they will be encouraged to vary their cuisine by learning how to make new dishes tor the delectation of boarders. It is often said with regard to food that the way to a man’s heart is down his throat. Whether or not the male sex deserves this opprobrium, there is no doubt that the introduction of tasty new dishes at least contributes to his pleasure. Yet, when it comes to tobacco the pipe smoker is extraordinarily conservative. He asks nothing more than that each new tin he buys should be exactly the same as the last—that is, of course, if he thinks he has found the tobacco that really suits him. Conservatism is a virtue if he smokes Rod Shield (Dark) or Blue Shield (Medium), because these are undoubtedly New Zealand Tobaccos at their best. Both are toasted to a turn which brings out in a delight!ully subtle way all the natural qualities of the tobacco and makes them delightfully smooth and satisfying to smoke. Obtainable everywhere, 1/7 per 2oz. tin, and also in one-pound cani start.* Don’t spoil thi s year's pickles and sauces by using inferior vinegar. Insist on “SHAR LAND'S”—so pure, so piquant, so strong! In bottle or bulk
