‘Report Just Money Wasted’

Only about a minute’s attention was given by the Wellington Chamber of Commerce to-night to the report of the Monetary Committee when it came up for discussion. “I move that we put it in the wastepaper basket,” said Mr Stronach Pater son. “I oppose that. We have paid 1/9 for it,” the president, Mr D. J. McGowan, said. Mr McGowan added that the cost of the inquiry was about £5OOO. “It is the most scandalous waste of money in New Zealand for a long time," Mr Paterson commented.
