Miss Batten Goes to Sydney

WELLINGTON, Sept. 18.

As the crane was swinging Miss Jean Batten’s Moth plane aboard tho Maunganui prior to her sailing to Sydney to-day, a northerly breeze caught the light craft and knocked it against the crane. It is feared that some ribs in tho wing may be broken and an inspection will have to bo made in Sydney before tho piano takes tho air. A largo crowd, iucluding prominent aviation officials, farewellod Miss Batten and gave three hearty cheers as the ship pulled out.
