THEFTS FROM HOUSE
Fittings Taken During Building
By Telegraph —Press Association.
AUCKLAND, September 18.
The plans of a recently married Auckland couple to settle in their new home have been seriously interfered with by the activities of thieves who have on three occasions within the last six weeks stolen fittings from the house, which is in the final stages of construction.
The most recent visit by the thieves was on Monday night when electrical equipment valued at about £7 was stolen. Since the thefts commenced fittings and tools worth some £2O have disappeared from the house. It is thought that a skeleton key must have been used, as there has not been any Judication of an entry being forced. The first time the thieves visited the house they removed a number of plated water taps and also took several lengths of copper piping. By the time they made their next visit the copper piping had been replaced and they promptly stole the second lot, using a plumber’s wrench found in a kit of tools left in the house. The intruders unscrewed the pipes and also stole a quantity of asbestos lagging and a special fitting from tbo hot water svstem.
On Monday night a raid was made on electrical equipment, Yarious fittings were wrenched bodily from the walls, and shades and bulbs were taken
