MENINGITIS CASES
Danger of Outbreak Pa»t
By Telegraph—Press Association. GISBORNE, September 17.
There is now no danger of the cerebro spinal meningitis outbreak in the folaga Bay district spreading. The isolation of two households has been lifted and it is hoped that the same course will tie taken with the other by to-morrow, ft is expected that the three patients in hospital will recover.
Those points were mentioned by Dr. II B. Turbott, medical officer of health, who returned from tho Coast during the week-end. Swabs taken from contacts were negative with the exception ot two which are doubtful.
It was fortunate, Dr. Turbott added, that the outbreak occurred in ail isolated country district, for the disease appeared in a virulent form which might easily have turned to a serious epidemic had the cases occurred in u thickly populated area.
