Convicted Man’s Appeal Fails By Telegraph—Press Assn—Copyright SYDNEY, September 14. The Full Court of Criminal Appeal to-day dismissed tbo appeal of Edward Morey, who was convicted and sentenced to death at Wagga for the murder of Percy Smith. Morey baked his appeal on fresh evidence to the affect that Moncreiff Anderson, a local resident, had confessed to the murder of Smith. The Court rejected this plea and confirmed the death sentence

Anderson himself was subsequently murdered, and his wife, Lilian Anderson, was convicted of that crime on September 7 and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment

The body of an unknown man was found at Murrumbidgee, five miles west of Wagga, on December 26 The head was terribly injured. A chaff bag was thrown over the head. The body apparently had been iu tbo river for some time. On January 3 tbo body was identified as that of Percy Smith a shearer, believed to have been a native of Carlton Victoria Edward Henry Morey, who was charged with the murder of Smith was found guilty and sentenced to death on May 11. Morey denied the murder and added that the bloodstains found on his clothing were due to his accidentally cutting him self
