It is not till one secs on paper the analysis <jf quantities, that one realises the scope of the Napier Social Service Committee. Attached to the presidential 'report, was a tabulated statement which showed that during tho strike period last year 4.763 applicants altogether received 25,547 lbs. of meat, 4} tons of vegetables, 376 lbs. of tea, ■-'bill lb- of sugar. 195(1 Ihv. of flour, 2686 lbs of bread and 660 lbs. of butter. An expenditure of £343 13/- covered the relief measures organised by the Social Service Committee while the strike was in progress.
