Henry S. Fitter and Sons, Ltd., through their New Zealand representative, Mr R. L. Bennett, advise that tho position of the London mejit market at September 13 was as follows: — N.Z. lambs, 2’s 7d to 7}d, B’s GJd to 6 7-Bd, 4’s 6 1-Sd to 6 3-Bd, secondary lambs (>4d to 6Jd; N.Z. mutton, small 5 l-8d to 5 3-Bd, large4Jd to 4 7-8 d; N.Z. ewes, small 3 7-8 d to 4 l-Bd. large 3}d to 3Jd; N.Z. beef, ox hinds 3d to 3 3-8. fores 2 l-8d to 23-8 d; Argentine chilled ox hinds s}d to 6d, fores 2fd to 3Jd; N.Z. pork, (id to 7|d; Australian lambs, 51d to 6Jd; Argentine lambs, 5Jd to 6ld. (Quotations for lamb do not include prices for selected Down lambs). Lambs.—Trade is slow owing to heavy supplies of fresh meat. The demand for seconds is falling off. Wethers: Larger supplies have caused prices to weaken. Ewes: The demand is moderate, with prices a little lower. Beef: The demand is affected by low prices of chilled beef. Pork: There is a weaker tendency. Continued unfavourable weather is affecting sales.
