Hastings Gathering

ENJOYABLE SMOKE-O

A very enjoyable concert and smoke-o, with the usual Digger supper. was held iu tho Hastings Trades Hall last evening under the auspices of tho R.S.A. Colonel Uoldcnness presided, and again there was a good attendance ot cx-servicetuen. representing many branches of tho service. A special welcome was extended by tho president to Mr. Noel Harding, Town Clerk of Hastings, and ex-presidout of the Feildiug 'R.S.A. An excellent programme of items was given by a number of talented performers, not the least appreciated of whom were Mr. W. Lord and his orchestra. A particularly enjoyable item was a community sing led by Mr. E. E. Rivers, and lustily joined in by everyone present.

Other items were songs by Mr, E. G. Stevenson, Air. Reuben Horsefield, Mr. Rivers, and Mr. T. Johnston, humour by Air F. Robson card manipulation by Air il. H. Culver, and mandolin solos by Mr, H. Barden.

A tasty supper was served, and the evening was brought to an end by the singing of ‘‘God Save tho King.”
