GOLD AND GREEN ANN LAL BALL

The Cold and Green annual ball was held in the Te Hauke assembly hall on Thursday night, and the organisers, members of the Mutual Improvement Association, are to be congratulated on such a gay and successful function. Liie hall was effectively decorated with gold and green streamers, while baskets made of green flax tilled with ferns and flowers, hung round the walls and gave a bright dash of colour. At the foot of the stage was a gay muss ol greenery and Kentia pamis and ou the stage were masses oi gold and green. from here Wi Duueuu s orclicstru supplied a spieudid Uunee piogiuiumf. Bright fancy costumes added to the effect oi the dunces. The demonstration ot the Gold and Green lox-trot by Pricey Harns, Mary Hanis, Geo. Chase, Mill! Te Atua, Fred Llupi and Rachel Paewai, was really excellent and a pleasure to watch.

The most, important event of the evening was the crowning of the queen, Miss busie Bartlett, the bodyguard was under the supervision of Geo. Chase, president 01. Hie Mutual Improvement Association, and the trainbearers were supervised by Annie Anderson and Mrs Una Thompson. The proclamation was read by Tess Wilson and gave much amusement to the audience.

Later a syncopated tap dance was given by the Misses Shapleski, Visitors were present from Danuevirke, Waipawa, I’ukebou, L’akipaki, Korongota, Omabu and Hastings, liie evening was brought to a close by the orchestra playing the National Anthem.
