The Anchor liner Cameronia (16,000 tons) on arrival at Glasgow from New York, reported encountering a violent Atlantic gale, in which one scamau was washed overboard and 30 passengers injured. The Cameronia was hove to for two hours while a boat’s crew, at great risk, unsuccessfully searched the sea for the missing; man. The full force of the gale was felt on Friday, when the passengers were at dinner. Huge seas caused the liner to roll to amazing angles, and the passengers were flung from their seats and furniture and crockery broken.
