Women’s Championships FOREST HILLS, August 20. Miss Helen Jacobs’ successful defence of the women's championship provided a match which was far from spectacular, as the margin of superiority over Miss Sarah Palfrey was too great to provide an even contest. In the first set Mis» Palfrey’s single game was won on her placements and on her opponent’s errors. In tho second set Miss Palfrey mace a determined stand and enjoyed 2—l and 4—2 leads, but after the sixth game Miss Jacobs played some of the most steady tennis during the tournament and won four straight games with the loss of only six points. Details: Women's singles final — Helen Jacobs defeated Sarah Palfrey 6—l, 6—4. Women’s doubles championship.— Misses Jacobs and Palfrey defeated Misses Babcock and Andrus 4—6, 6—3. 6—4. EXHIBITION BY PERRY NEW YORK, August 20. In an exhibition match at Forest Hills Perry and Roderick Menzel (Czecho-Slovakian) broke even, Menzel winning the first set 9 —7, and I’err.v the second 6 —4. POERTSCHACH TOURNEY BERLIN, August 20. In the final of the I’oertschueh tour nanient Turnbull defeated Aletaxa 11—9. 6—3, 6—2.
