Wattie, of Messrs Painter and Wnttic. were elected members of the Hastings Chamber of Commerce at thmonthly meeting of the Chamber la*» evening. Mr. J. M. Fifher, who has taken a leading part in the movement to secure the inclusion of Hobart in the itinerary of the South Jsland-Melbourne steamer service, will shortly visit New Zealand ns the accredited agent of the Tasmanian Government. After placing his representations before the Government and the head office of the Union Steam Ship Company in Wellington, Mr Fisher will visit the South bland in continuation of his campaign. Mr. T. W. Mitchell, a noted Aw tralinn exponent of the art. of ski ing. arrived at Auckland from Sydney yesterday. He will compete in the New Zealand ski ing championships at Rtm pehu and hopes to have time to visit Mount Egmont before hi* return to Australia nt the end of the month. Winner of the Australian Slsfton end downhill championships in 1932 end 1933. Mr. Mitchell visited the Dominion in the former year and won the New Zealand title.
