Fred Perry and F. D. Wilde are placed first on the foreign seeded list for the United Slates doubles tennis championship starting on Monday. Vernon Kirby (South Africa) and Roderick Menzel (Czecho-Slovakia) drew secund position. The defenders, Lott and Stoefen, topped the United States seeded list. At Newport, Allison defeated Frank Parker, Spring Lake, New Jersey, 6—l, 6—4, 4—6, 7—5, winning the Casino singles tournament

FOREST HILLS TOURNAMENT

NEW YORK, August 19 At Forest Hills in the United States women’s tennis championships, the match between Miss 11. Jacobs and Miss O. Babcock offered the only first class tennis in the semi-finals. Miss Palfrey played far from her best tennis, but still held a wide advantage over, the less experienced Miss Andrus, fn the first set, Miss Babcock played the title-holder, on even terms until Miss Jacobs broke her service in the twelfth game on hard placements to the corners of the court. In the final set Miss Jacobs played to her true championship form and forced Miss Babcock all through tho set. In six games she suffered only thirteen errors, including a double fault.

Quarter finals. —Scores: Miss S. Pal. frey defeated Miss F. Janies 6—3. 3 —6, 6—l. Miss D. Andrus defeated Baroness Levi 6 —l, 6—4. Miss C. Babcock defeated Miss K. Stammers, 6 —3, 2—6, 6 —4. Miss H. Jacobs defeated Mrs E. Ryan 6—o, 6 —l. Semi-final.—Scores ; Miss Jacob defeated Miss Babcock 7 —5, 6 —o. Miss Palfrey defeated Miss Andrus 6—3, 6 —4. The final is to be played on Sunday. GERMANY BEATS RUMANIA BERLIN, August 18. Germany qualified for participation in the Davis Cup 1935 eliminating Rumania. METAXA ’ BEATS QUIST BERLIN, August 18. In tho J’oertschach tournament semi-finals, Metaxa beat Quist 4 6, 10—8, 6—4 and Turnbull beat von Rohmer 4—6, 6—2, 6-2. Quist and Turnbull beat Maier and Arlens 6—4 6—3, 6 —l.
