170 PEOPLE DROWNED

Crowd Swamps Ferry-boat CALCUTTA, August 17. Over 170, including many women and children, were drowned in a ferryboat disaster near Baribhari Ghat, in the Bihar Province. Tho boat, on which there were several bullocks, began to rock in the strong mid-strcam current. Tho bullocks ran amok and leaped into the river, and the passengers, panicstricken, rushed to the side of the boat, which capsized.
