HASTINGS CLUB’S CHAMPIONSHIP SECOND DAY’S PLAY. The Hastings Golf Club’s annual tournament was contii-ied yesterday under better weather conditions. The course is in excellent order, and the greens in very good condition. The following were the results of the afternoon play:— CHAMPIONSHIP Second Round L. B. Reid beat J. R. Wilson, 2 and 1. T. MAORI TOURNAMENT. TAREHA WINS CHAMPIONSHIP. By Telegraph—Press Association. DANNEVIRKE. August 17. Tho third annual tourney of tho New Zealand Maori Golf Association, extending over three days, concluded this afternoon, being very successful. There were 46 entrants in the men’s section and 33 in the ladies. Competitors were present from the South Island, also Wanganui, Otaki, Tokomuru Bay and Hawke's Bay. Tho championship results were:— SENIOR LADIES Semi-finals. —Mrs K. Tareha beat Mrs B. Hadfield, four and three; Miss T. Chase beat Miss R. Scott, four and three. Fiiml. —Miss T. Chase (Wairoa) defeated Mrs Tareha (Napier), four and three. JUNIOR. LADIES Semi-finals—Mrs M. Logan beat Mrs .1 Hnpo, ihroo and two; Miss A. Tarvhn boat Airs E. Carter, three and olid. Final.- Miss Tnrehn (Napier) defont Mi. Logan (Wiiipawa), olio up. MEN. Semi-final.—Kupi Tareha bout T. Kuril, I up; J. Winterburn beat J. Hnpo, 2 and I.
