Millionaire Captive Released 'LONDON (Ontario), August 17. John Labatt, the wealthy brewer who was kidnapped on Tuesday, was released at 5.30 a.m. on Friday. Dominion, provincial and municipal police had been taking part in the search for John Labatt, the millionaire brewer, who vanished from his automobile which bore a note directing that 150,000 dollars ransom be paid in Toronto when directed. A note from Labatt to the family appealed that the orders bo obeyed, but a brother was ready with the money and iiad received no instructions from tho kidnappers. The kidnappers had asked for 150,000 dollars ransom, but apparently they were convinced that the police were closing in and released Labatt without payment of the ransom. NEW YORK CASE Minister Held for Ransom NEW YORK, August 17. Another kidnapping case occurred today when tho Hev. 11. Askew, Evangelist minister of Goldsboro, North Carolina, was abducted and held for 25.0<X' dollars ransom. Mr Askew was driving a car at the time he was apparently I seized.
