W.D.F.U. MEETING

Gathering at Waipukurau The monthly meeting of the Central Hawke’s Bay Branch of the ,Women'* Division of the Farmers’ Union, was held at the Rest Rooms oh Tuesday. The president, Mrs T. Groome, presiding over the following members: Mesdames J. A. Kerr, G. L. Jamieson, H. P. Hole, J. W. Harding, Paul Hunter, C. Pattison, J. Rose, A. E. Grant, Miss Grant and the secretary, Miss I. Beachen Apologies were received from Mesdames A. P. Wallace, F. Wilson, T. Geenty and W- T. Edgecombe. The secretary l . Miss Beachen, submitted a lengthy and comprehensive report on the business transacted at the recent Women’s Division Conference held in Wellington, which was followed with keen interest by those present. Miss Beachen was accorded a hearty vote bf thanks. It was proposed that a vote of thahks be conveyed to the Mangaorapa Women’s Institute for their acceptable donation towards the Rest Room funds. It was deci<ied that the next meeting which is to be held at the end of September be the Annual Book day. The President and Secretary were authorised to interview other women’s organisations with a view of inviting Miss E. Andrews to address a meeting in Waipukurau, on her return from the Pan-Pacific Conference. At the conclusion of the business a much appreciated afternoon tea was provided by the members.
