PLANTING OF 908 TREES

Work at Te Mata Park LARGE SCHEME IN HAND Arbor Day was celebrated yesterday at Te Mata Park by the planting of trees of various varieties. There were present the chairman and three members of the To Mata Park Board of Trustees, three members of the N.Z. Institute of Horticulture, several members of the Rotary Club, and twelve High School boys. In till 908 trees were planted, and included 700 piniis insignia, 100 e. botryoidcs, ItK) c. macrocarpit, two kauri, and six tung oil trees. it is tho intention of the board to plant not less than 2500 trees this year, and planting will bo completed by August 20. The interest shown in tho park increases year by year, and it is hoped to repeat yesterday’s celebrations annually on Arbor Day.
