C.J.C.’t TOTE TAX £5136 Paid for Two Days By Telegraph—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, April 4. For the two-days’ Easter meeting the Canterbury Jockey Club pays the Government a total tax of £5136. The club was unlucky as the totalizator tax was increased from 4 per cent to 4| per cent, on April 1 and the increase affected both its days, whereas the Trotting Club escaped with the 4 per cent, tax on its big day, March 31.
