The appointment of Mr. J. A. C. Allum, of Auckland, as sole member of the Central Transport Licensing Authority was announced by the Minister of Transport, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, to-day—Press Assn. The quadrennial election of the Auckland Electric Power Board is to be held on Apri' 18. When nominations closed to-day there were 30 candidates for 12 seats. The candidates include all the sitting members and also a Labour ticket of ten. This is the first time a Labour ticket has been put forward for a Power Board election —Press Assn. The Auckland City Council’s rate collections in the financial year just closed totalled £626,004, only £1306 below the amount estimated.—Press Association.
