SMALL TOTALS RECORDED. TWO FROSTS AT HASTINGS. Mr. H. N. Fowler reports rain falling at Hastings on seven days as follows:—March 2 (.26 inches), 9 (-36), 13 (.02), 27 (.21), 28 (.09), 30 (.11), 31 (.04); total, l.OOins. Temperatures. —Highest maximum 81 (in screen), mean maximum 70.9; lowest minimum 34 (in screen), mean minimum 47.8; lowest grass 28, mean grass 43.9. Range of temperature 23.1. Mean temperature for month 58.58. There were two frosts, 3 degrees on March 14 and 4 degrees on March 15. Winds.—The prevailing winds were: N.N.E. 7, S. 9, S.W. 8. W. 4, N.W. 3. Mr. L. Maclean, Glencoe, reports rain falling on seven days last month, the total fall being 1.05 inches. The detailed figures are as follow: —March 2 (.16 inches), 9 (.36), 12 (.2), 13 (.13), 27 (.16), 28 (.16), 29th (.6). The total rainfall to the end of March for the year is 12.95 inches. The March rainfall for the Eskdale district was well below the average, which has been 4 5 inches for tho past 30 years. Last month rain fell on eight days, making a total of .86 inches, as compared with 3.11 inches for March. 1933 and 5.45 inches for March 1932.
