Charge of Being Drunk YOUNG WOMAN INJURED By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, March 17. In the Police Court this morning John Spencer, aged 37, insurance agent, was char"ed with being intoxicated in charge of a car. The police said that at 8.40 last evening the defendant drove across the intersection of Karangahape road at a speed estimated at between 40 and 45 miles. He knocked down Miss Isabelle Jack, aged 22, and speeded away. He was followed by two motor cyclists and stopped, but again speeded up and doubled back. Later he was arrested in Great North road and found to be intoxicated. The young woman suffered serious head injuries, and was operated on this morning. The accused was remanded for a week.
