TRENTHAM TRACK GALLOPS I

Sensations Recorded (By Telegraph l'it» Association.! WELLINGTON, March 15. With most of tne visiting horses now at the scene of action, there was quite an amount of fast galloping at 1 rentham this morning, but with preparations generally completed before such horses left their home tracks it might be unwise to attach too much account to the trials. Practically all the times could have been bettered if the necessity was there. The weather was fine, with a drying wind, and the prospects for to-morrow are excellent. Unless otherwise stated the gallops were on the trial grass. Tile sensation of the morning was the complete six or eight lengths' thrashing Cadland received at the hands of Epigram over six furlongs, but the defeat was so thorough as to demonstrate tinpossible unreliability of the trial. Moreover. Epigram's tune of 1.17 1-c Has only moderate. Three years age Silvermine was similarly beaten by Eaglet in the final test, but next day won the Thompson Handicap. Red Sun ran six furlongs attractively on the plough in 1.15 3-5. beating Normandy by four lengths This wat the best six of the morning, but the plough was a shade faster than the I grass.
