FISHING BOATS LOST Several Deaths Reported MUCH DAMAGE ASHORE (By Telegraph- Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Received 15, 11.30 a.m.) BRISBANE. March 15. A cyclone which swept the North Queensland coast on Tuesday morning caused 10 known deaths and a number of others are feared. The lugger Mildred foundered between Schnapper Island and Cupe Tribulation, about 35 miles from Cook Town. A man, his wife and four chil dren, and two women and two wen were drowned. Some others of the vessel’s company swam ashore, including Captain Kono. The vessel was engaged in beche de mer and trochue shell fishing and was making fo» Townsville. An airman who was searching for the missing launch Mosiman reported the loss of the Mildred, but learned nothing of the launch. It is feared she and a number of other luggers were overwhelmed by the cyclone. Later: The wreck of the Mossmsa was discovered 67 miles north from Cairns. The crew’s fate is unknown. The launches Quest and Trinity ere among five other vessels missing. Great damage was done ashore in the Daintree district. Large areas of scrub end bushland were flattened, several houses wrecked, a sawmill unroofed and timber stacks scattered. The damage is estimated at about £40.004.
