CRICKET CONTROL

HAWKE’S BAY ASSOCIATION MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS JUNIOR MATCH AT EASTER Matters relating to the control of cricket in Hawke’s Bay were discussed last evening at the fortnightly meeting of the management committee of the Hawke's Buy Cricket Association, held in Napier. The chairman, Mr R. M. Chadwick, presided over Messis L. G. Fifield, lan Campbell, V. Hawke, H. V. Phillips, J. J. O'Brien, W. L. Dunn, W. D. Corbett, R. Lott and C. Louisson. With regard to the proposed Wellington district minor cricket association’s competition, the committee decided to approve the principle ami to send a delegate to the conference to be held soon at Wellington. A letter is to be sent to the secretary of the Y.M.C.A. Cricket Club, Palmerston North, to the effect that this association will be pleased to arrange a junior match on Easter Friday and Saturday and, if possible, to make arrangements for accommodating the team at the'motorists’ camp. In view of the fact that McLean Park will be used next Saturday afternoon for the Napier-Gisborne inter-dub athletic meeting, the two junior matches, St, John’s v H. 5.0.8. and Taradale v. Swailes’, which were to have been played there, will be assigned other wickets, as referred to in the draw for the eighth series, published elsewhere in the “Herald’’ this morning. DRAW FOR EIGHTH SERIES.

WICKETS AND UMPIRES. The following is the draw for the eighth series of the Napier cricket competitions, commencing on Saturday afternoon next: — SENIOR GRADE. (At Nelson Park). High School A v. United, No. 1, Messrs Campbell and Morison. Technical 0.8. v. St. John’s, No. 2, Messrs Dunn and O’Brien. H. 5.0.8. Colts v H. 5.0.8., No. 3, Messrs Canning and Girling. JUNIOR GRADE (At Nelson Park) Taradale v. Swailes’, No. 4, Messrs Brown and Hawke. Technical Colts v. Technical 0.8., No. 5, Messrs Callaghan and Jeffery. Scinde v. United B, No. 6, Messrs Reid and Mosley. On Saturday next the following junior games will begin on the High School grounds and end on McLean Park on March 3: — High School v. United A, No. 1, Messrs Fayen and Marcroft. H. 5.0.8. v. St. John’s, No. 2, Messrs McKechnio and Aislabie.
