Swimmers and officials of the Napier Swimming Club gathered yesterday afternoon in one of the rooms forming pari of the Napier Municipal Batbs building to bid God-speed to Mr J. Hislop, who besides his post as headmaster of the Napier Central School, for a number of years was chairman of tiir Napier Swimming Club. His tel-/ low members presented him with a I three-pound tin of tobacco, a pipe and I a tobacco pouch. Mr J. Mason, president of the Hawke’s Bay Swimming | Centre and vice-president of the Napier Swimming Club, paid Mr Hislop many compliments, as did Mr E. I). Berry, chairman of the Centre, who agreed there would be widespread regret at. having to bid farewell to their guest. Mr Hislop briefly replied.
