MEETINC AT BAY VIEW I NTERESTI.NG AFTERNOON The December meeting of the Bay View AVomen’s Institute was held in King George’s Hall, when there was a very good attendance of members. After the singing of the institute song, visitors from Eskdale were welcomed by the president (Mrs Wilmer). Business was then attended to, final arrangements for the children’s Christmas party being made. A donation of 10/. to the Eskview School cocoa fund was also decided upon. Mrs Milne presented savings bank books to the September babies —Esther Bird, Ruth Scott and Haymond Blair. Miss Hunter, of Eskdale, gave a very interesting and instructive address OU first aid. Ths meeting then adjourned to the supper room and partook of a dainty supper, ably dispensed by the hostesses, Mesdames Hard and Rogers. The roll call “my earliest recollection,” was answered by most members, some very amusing episodes being related. The results of the competition, “the best article from a flour bag,” were announced. Mrs Scott gaining first place, Miss Biair second and Mrs Nissen third. After an exchange of Christmas gifts, the president wished members the compliments of the season and the meeting closed with the singing oi “Auld Lang Syne.” CHILDREN’S PARTY A most enjoyable evening was spent by young and old, when the Bay View AVoinen’s Institute held a Christmas party for the children. The evening included the following items by the children:—Opening chorus: “Here We are Again,” and “Nowell ” Eric Sweeting, “Little Boy Blue,” Dawn Moran, “Little Bo Peep,” Pat Sands, “A Little Fly.” Marie Milne, “Creepy Mouse,” Jean McKenzie, “Little Miss Muffett.” Chorus: “Good King AVencislas.” Recitation: Noeleen Brown, “Rainbow Fairies,” Adelaide . Pohio, “The Thrushes Song;” Jovce AVoodward, “Snapdragon Cottage;” Betty Woodward, “The Dandelion:” Loma Durward, “As I AVas AValking,” Blanche Christoffersen. Songs Pat Kennedy. Eve Lenn, Thelma Robertson, and Olive Brown, “Aloha Oe,” and “I Can Smile.” Recitations : Dawn AVoodward ‘ ‘Madamoiselle ;” Ronny Lenn, “The Wind ;” Joy McHardy, “The Pig;” Leslie Nicholls. “The Mirror”; Mossey Grey; Trevor Rogers, “Dog Binque”; Marjory Lenn, “One to be Ready.” Song: Pat Kennedy, EVa Lenn, Olive Brown, and Thelma Robertson, “Jingle Bells.” Recitations: Max Nicholl, “Hiawatha” ; Bobbie Curry, “The Moon;” Sonny Waina, “Jack Frost;” Alister Nichol “The Swing”, Chorus: “Daisy Bell,” and “Springtime in the Rockies.” Father Christmas was then announced amid great excitement, each child receiving a gift from the well-laden Christmas tree: also a bag of sweets. AVhen Father Christmas had departed a dainty supper was served the children in the supper room and the adults in the hall. After being treated to ice cream and soft drinks, the children enjoyed several games, this completing a very pleasant evening for them. Dancing was indulged in by the adults until midnight, the duties of M.C. being capably carried on by Mr A. McHardy.
