Ruatoria Maori Charged (By Telegraph—Press Association.) GISBORNE, Doc. 21. Yesterday at Ruatoria, Detective McLeod arrested Henare Poananga, who later appeared in Court on a charge that on or about Jun.) 13, at Ruatoria, being a clerk in tho employ of the Native Land Department, he stole £6 3/6, the property of the department. On the application of the detective the accused was remanded by consent till January 17, the detective indicating that further inquiries were necessary. Bail was fixed in £lOO with one surety of £lOO.
