For nigh on 2,000 years, in fact, ever since the wise men of the east opened their treasures, and presented their gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh, the festival of Christmas has been recognised by all Christian peoples. This festive season is naturally one of rejoicing and merriment and the making, as far as it is possible, other people happy. In other days the range of gifts was somewhat narrowed down to a few articles, but now the custom has grown to such an extent that any commodity is looked upon as a suitable token of goodwill and friendship. Tn this isssue on page 13 Hannah and Co., Ltd., the Workingmen’s Boot Shop and the Wilson Shoe Co., of Napier and Hastings, extend their Xmas greetings and are offering ideal and suitable Xmas presents in all forms of footwear, at prices to suit the purses of everybody desirous of showing in a tangible manner their spirit of goodwill to fheir fellow men.
