THE PANTER CASE
Sir John Simon Investigating (Received 4, 100.30 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 3. Sir John Simon is fully investigating the Ranter case personally. "The Times” says: “The matter cannot be left in this inconclusive state.” Further London Press Comment (British Official Wireless ) (Received 4, 12.30 p.m.) RUGBY, Nov. 3. The release from prison of Mr Noel Ranter on condition that he leaves Germany within 48 hours is the occasion for further comment on the case in the English Press. The “News-Chronicle” says: “Mr Panter did nothing but his plain duty as a journalist. Ho reported honestly what he saw. Does the Gorman Government deny this right to foreign correspondents? If so, no responsible British journalist will consent to work on these terms.’
